We're updating our API to support Folders and Subglossaries functionalities within Ellie. You can now use API endpoints /folders and folders/{id} to do so.
The /folders endpoint lets you see all the folders available in the organization.
With /folders/{id}, you can update folder details, move a folder, get information on assets that exist in the folder, and delete a folder.
You can learn more in our API documentation - https://ellie.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ELLIE/pages/783745025/API
Important notice:
As part of this API update, we've also added a new parameter to all the assets: “parentFolderId”. This enables you to see in which specific folder a model, an entity, or a folder is located.
We've also removed the ability of getting entities and models by name via the API to ensure consistency when using the API.
Conceptual modeling is about brainstorming, working with business experts to understand data as they understand it.
The grouping functionality furthers this collaboration, with the possibility of grouping related entities. This makes it easier to understand the nature of entities in a group and treat it as one on the canvas.
When an entity is placed in a group, the entity and its relationships within the group will stick to the group element, making it easy to move multiple assets at one go within your model.
You can create groups on an canvas, including logical and physical models.
Many of our large enterprise customers use Collibra as their governance tool of choice. It’s only natural that we support the use of the metadata in Collibra within Ellie.
Ellie 7.4 is the first step in this process, starting with the ability to sync Ellie glossaries with Collbira domains.
The synchronization setup can be done in just a couple of minutes and all the mapping between Ellie and Collibra folders and assets can be done via the user interface.
You can synchronize the glossaries manually or set up an automated synchronization where you can define which glossary is “Master” (from where the changes should be applied) and how often the synchronization should happen—whether it's every day, every hour, and so on.
You can learn more about the integration in our overview video.
We will expand this integration further with our Conceptual Model sync functionality in the coming weeks.
If you'd like to set up your Collibra integration with Ellie, reach out to our team at support@ellie.ai.
