Abstract:
Ellie 7.1 deepens the platform's integration with the Microsoft data ecosystem through two new connections: Azure DevOps for version-controlled model deployment workflows, and Microsoft Purview for governed metadata synchronization. The Azure DevOps integration allows teams to trigger and track model deployments within their existing DevOps pipelines. The Purview integration enables Ellie's semantic model metadata to flow into Microsoft's data governance catalog — keeping data lineage and semantic definitions consistent across the Microsoft stack. For organizations standardized on Azure, this release significantly reduces the operational overhead of maintaining alignment between modeling artifacts and enterprise governance infrastructure.
We’re excited to unveil our latest integrations with Microsoft’s ecosystem, designed to help you collaborate more efficiently, govern more reliably, and accelerate your data modeling with Ellie.ai.
Azure DevOps Integration: Push Physical Models in Data Lake Format
Our revamped Azure DevOps (ADO) integration makes it straightforward to bring your Ellie models closer to your engineering workflows.
Now, you can:
Push Models to ADO Repositories: Export your Ellie physical data models in a data lake–friendly format directly into your chosen ADO repository. This ensures your models are version-controlled and easily accessible alongside your other project assets.
Automate CI/CD Pipelines: Integrate seamlessly with your existing CI/CD workflows. Trigger automated build and deployment processes whenever you push updates to your models, ensuring that your data schemas are always up-to-date and consistent across environments.
Centralized Model Management: Store all your model artifacts within ADO repositories, providing a single source of truth for your data models. This centralization facilitates better tracking, auditing, and rollback capabilities without leaving the Azure ecosystem.
Seamless Synchronization with Ellie and Purview Integration
The Purview integration simplifies glossary management, ensuring consistency and synchronization across platforms. It’s been built to provide:
An Effortless Setup: Configure the integration through an intuitive interface, with no coding required, and map glossary fields in just a few clicks.
Flexible Synchronization Options: Choose between manual syncs for immediate updates or automated schedules to ensure regular, hands-free synchronization.
Customizable Workflows: Define master-destination logic to prioritize updates, tailor the integration to fit your glossary structure, and maintain full control over changes.
Data Type Domains
Maintain consistency and uphold your organization’s data standards with data type domains. This feature enables you to define standardized attribute definitions that align with your best practices. For example, you can enforce that CUSTOMER_NAME is always defined as VARCHAR(60) across all models.
Standardization: Ensure that common attributes adhere to predefined formats and constraints, reducing discrepancies and enhancing data quality.
Reusability: Apply these standardized attribute types across multiple models and projects, streamlining the modeling process and ensuring uniformity.
Governance: Strengthen compliance by embedding organizational data standards directly into your data models, making it easier to adhere to internal policies and external regulations.
Copy/Paste Attributes
No more re-typing the same field definitions. You can now copy entire sets of attributes—across your physical and logical models, drastically cutting down on tedious, repetitive work.
Get Started
Link Your Accounts: Head to your workspace settings in Ellie.ai, authorize your ADO and Purview connections, and configure permissions.
Publish & Synchronize: Begin pushing physical models to ADO and syncing data assets with Purview to experience a faster, smoother workflow.
Stay Consistent: Leverage custom physical attribute types to ensure domain-specific standards, and copy/paste attributes to build out models in record time.
